Regional Coordinator for Education Needed

The Mid-Atlantic Region is in need of a Regional Coordinator for education. Education RC's take an active role in helping the region's chapters perform their function of providing quality and affordable educational opportunities for chapter members and the accountability profession.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
• By August 31, determine whether each chapter in the region has reported to the national office the name of the Education chair. Vacancies that exist should be communicated to the RVP and NC.
• Encourage and assist the chapters in completing a chapter Education plans for the year that follows the Association’s goals, objectives, and strategies for education programs at the chapter level.
• Contact the chapter education chairs at least every other month to give support and to provide information on the education programs from the regional and national level.
• Submit a quarterly report to the RVP and National Coordinator four weeks prior to the scheduled NEC meeting that contains the status of the education programs at the respective chapters within their region.
• Participate in an Education Regional Coordinators conference call for 1 hour each month to update on the progress of the education programs in the region and to identify educational best practices.

Mid-Atlantic Chapter Member Accomplishments

Congratulations to Nauri Ahmed, Richmond Chapter, and Shelia Arrington, Virginia Peninsula Chapter, who won complimentary national membership dues for the 2007–2008 year for sponsoring six or more new members during the Reach for the Stars membership campaign. Nauri recruited 12 members before the December 31st deadline and Shelia recruited an amazing 30 members! A big congratulations to both of them and good luck in becoming AGA's top recruiter of the year!

Mary Lechner, Virginia Peninsula Chapter, developed a citizen centric report card for the city of Virginia Beach and her article "Citizen-Centric Government Case Study: City of Virginia Beach" was published in the winter 2006 edition of AGA's Journal. Great job, Mary!


New Mid-Atlantic Regional Vice President and Coordinator

Congratulations to Connie Huber for being named Regional Vice President-Elect Designate for the Mid-Atlantic Region! Connie is currently the Comptroller of the Labor, Education, and Community Services (LECS) Comptroller's Office within the Pennsylvania Office of the Budget.  She is also a member and immediate Past President of the Central Pennsylvania chapter. She will serve as Regional Vice President-Elect for the 07-08 program year, then take on the duties as RVP for 08-09.

Congratulations also to Mark Morehouse for volunteering to serve as the Regional Coordinator for Certification! Mark currently works for the Military Sealift Command, and is a member and Past President of the Virginia Peninsula Chapter. In this position Mark will serve as a regional resource for new ideas for promoting the CGFM certification to employers, AGA members, and accountabilty professionals.

Regional Member Nominated as Senior Vice President - At Large

Congratulations to Kelly Stefanko who was nominated to serve as SVP At Large for AGA National! Kelly currently works for the City of Norfolk and is a member of the Virginia Peninsula Chapter. She is the immediate past RVP of the Mid-Atlantic region.
